This design improves upon traditional dispensers/holders for 22AWG SparkFun hookup wire kits, specifically those sold under product numbers PRT-11375 and PRT-11367 on the SparkFun website. When cutting wire from these containers, it tends to slip back into place due to its loose fit within the box. This dispenser features long tubes that prevent the wire from retracting onto the spool, eliminating this problem. The tubes were engineered with a 2mm inner diameter to accommodate the 1.35mm solid core wire and a 2.25mm ID for the 1.5mm stranded core wires. However, please note that the fit may vary based on your print settings, as demonstrated in this example where it was printed using .25mm layer height. The dispenser is assembled utilizing 1/4" x 1" dowel pins available at most hardware stores. These pins are designed to remain securely within the top pieces while being removable from the lower components. For added stability, a small amount of super glue may be applied if the pins tend to detach from the incorrect half. To secure the dispenser firmly in place, simply attach it to the wall using #10 screws and remember to use drywall anchors for optimal support. This innovative design also features an adjustable spacer that can be glued to the bottom of a dispenser block, allowing multiple blocks to be stacked as needed.
