Modular Gyroid Puzzle

Modular Gyroid Puzzle

thingiverse

Can you build a pyramid from these Gyroid modules? Although aligning them can be challenging, success is indicated by the highly symmetrical larger Gyroid, marked by holes running in multiple directions throughout its structure. Each module is a rhombic dodecahedron intersected with Gyroid, forming face-centered cubic packing and printing without support more efficiently than the original cubic design. The puzzle's size depends on how many you print; larger puzzles require more base pieces and gyroid modules. For smaller sizes, use JoeyC's script with the Replicator or Skeinforge's Multiply function. To create a larger puzzle, input an edge module number into the OpenSCAD script's totalAssembly module, which also renders a view and outputs required modules. GyroidThin1 and GyroidThick1 are functions used in OpenSCAD; they were created in Matlab, see ancestor.
