Modular Formicarium (Ant Nest)
thingiverse
I added opposing connectors and lateral test tube holders. For a better connection use the opposite connectors. A Formicarium should not only be ant-friendly but also beautiful and expandable. Since I always find external connections unattractive, I have developed a new connection which is on the inside. I am always developing this Formicarium further and I am happy to receive comments and suggestions. The size is based on photos, so glasses from picture frames are used. For humidification the nests contain a chamber which is filled with humidified cotton wool. The closures are self-closing with spiral springs. Halved ballpoint pen nibs are used for this. For ventilation and humidification, grids are implemented in the walls. All components with grids are designed in grid sizes 0.4 mm and 0.6 mm. All models are optimized for printing with a 0.4 mm nozzle. The Formicarium can be printed without a support structure, for connectors and closures a support structure is recommended. The maximum size of the 10x15 glass is 106.4 mm 151.4 mm. For the chamber 95 g material is necessary, for the arena 67 g. I am happy about suggestions and improvements.
