Modular Egg Tray
thingiverse
I'm a big fan of TheWolfDogg's modular egg tray concept, but I wanted to create something that uses less plastic - nearly 50% reduction - and prints faster and more reliably by 40%. So, how did I achieve this? I discovered that the eggs are secured perfectly well by the perimeter of the circle and don't need to touch the bottom, so I eliminated the spherical detail. Additionally, I opted for a dovetail instead of T-style connector slides and filleted the corners to minimize deceleration and acceleration time/jerk. There are two models available; the small/medium model performs flawlessly with small to medium eggs (outer diameter ≤ 42mm) on average. It can accommodate large or extra-large eggs without any issues, but if you have multiple large eggs connected together, they may start to overlap. The large/extra-large variant is designed for larger grocery store chicken eggs up to 46mm in diameter.
