Modular Drip Irrigation System
thingiverse
This is a comprehensive 3D-printed sprinkler system designed for use with standard automated drip irrigation equipment.\r\n\r\nOriginally developed for 3.5" seed starter containers, this design can also be adapted for other applications (albeit with slightly reduced fit).\r\n\r\nAll components are engineered to be press-fitted together, providing optimal results when combined with a well-calibrated printer; however, we strongly recommend using two-part epoxy to secure the assembly, as it significantly simplifies the process.\r\n\r\nThe tubing adapters may require drilling if your printer cannot reproduce the pre-drilled hole. A 2mm or 1/16" drill bit will easily accomplish this task.\r\n\r\nNotably, this system employs 1/2" PVC pipe to connect multiple sets of drippers, as oversizing the distribution lines helps maintain a consistent flow rate across interconnected sprinklers.\r\n\r\nTesting has shown that this design exhibits less than 5% flow rate variation across three rows of six sprinklers, outperforming most standard drip irrigation hardware in terms of consistency.\r\n\r\nPlease leave comments if you encounter any missing hardware for your specific application.\r\n\r\nWhile it would be convenient to have printed valves, most plastic valve bodies rely on o-rings for proper sealing. Given the added complexity of incorporating an o-ring, purchasing a standard valve from a hardware store proves to be a more practical and cost-effective solution.
