Modular Diorama for Miniatures (MoDMi)

The Modular Diorama for Miniatures (MoDMi) offers a compact system for taking consistent photographs of 28mm figures with various backdrops and facades in place. Nine 1mm holes in the top plate enable selective placement of electric tea lights to achieve a range of lighting effects. A backdrop is created using a Lithophane creation site at http://3dp.rocks/lithophane, as shown. Front facades are produced by scaling various models found on thingiverse.com to an 85mm width and/or a 75mm height. The facade model is then attached to the Facade_base. I used Angel Archway (based on OpenForge) by jpacek and OpenForge Stone Gatehouse by devonjones for my photos. The circular platform is a disc measuring 69mm in diameter and 5mm in height. For effortless rotation of the miniature, I recommend gluing wax paper to the bottom of the disc and into the circular depression of the base plate. This allows smooth rotation of the disc. For those who desire a well-designed cellphone platform for stable photos, I highly recommend the Smartphone Photo Studio for #3DBenchy and tiny stuff by CreativeTools. The support plate is glued to the top of the blank fixture insert and works great for me.
