Modular carriage & nozzle plugs for prusa i3
thingiverse
This is a custom designed carriage to host a 40x40 nozzle fan and a 51x51x15 blower fan for PLA cooling purposes. It features interchangeable plugs for securely hosting jheads with minimal mechanical adjustments needed per changeover. Next up is electrical connection modularity, but the initial focus has been on designing plugs for various types of printers including J-head Bowden, J-head Direct Drive, and Imaginacreation's hotend in Bowden mode, which originally employs a 60mmx15x15 aluminum profile for cooling. Some benefits I see include: Cool PLA extrusions with an efficient nozzle cold end Improved blower performance with ducted air intake (choose high-quality blowers for noise control) Ultra-low profile design for unobstructed print areas up to 190 mm in height It's also a standard 50mm spacing mount compatible with the x-carriage, secured by two M3 screws. To assemble this custom carriage, you'll need: M4x20 screws (2) and matching nuts for securing plug locks M3x40 screws (2) and matching nuts to attach it securely to your existing printer's carriage Additionally, M3x20 screws (4) and M4 nuts (4) will be necessary to secure the fans in place.
