Modular Can Garden
thingiverse
Create a modular garden for indoor or outdoor use by upcycling the 120z soda can or 250ml aluminum can into a gardening system that grows herbs and makes the place smell nice. Simply follow these steps to start your garden today! If each person in the U.S. alone builds a 20-can garden, 6 billion aluminum cans will be growing edible plants that provide an oxygen boost to the environment. Line them up on window sills, bunch them together outside, or create a pathway to your front door. The solid part is perfect for indoor use, while the heart-shaped hole makes it ideal for outdoor use. Here's how to build your modular garden: 1. Use a can opener to remove the top of a 250ml can. 2. Poke 5-10 holes in the bottom of the can. 3. Place the can in the 3D-printed part. 4. Fill the can with gardening soil, leaving an inch at the top. 5. Add couplers as needed for an ever-growing garden. 6. Push a finger into the soil up to the first knuckle. 7. Drop herb seeds like Cilantro, Basil, Rosemary, and more into the soil. 8. Cover the seeds with soil. 9. Water lightly. 10. Put a dent in global aluminum can waste. Optional steps: 11. Place a watering clip on the can and attach fish tank tubing to it. Poke holes as indicated in the picture. 12. Cut a hole in the cap of a 2L bottle, insert the free end of the fish tank tubing, and hot glue it in place. Fill the 2L bottle with water and hang it upside down like an IV. Combine your modular garden with a Sun Catcher to maximize photosynthesis!
