Modular bicycle mudguard fender / wing
thingiverse
I wanted to create my own version of the bicycle wing, which everyone could customize with ease.\r\nMy design features wheels with a diameter of 28 inches and a width of 1.6 inches (700mm and 40mm), with a gap of 7mm between the tire and wheel, perfect for the Kona Dew Deluxe. However, in Onshape, you can create your own version for any other wheels, using variables to adjust the proportions as needed. The last section is folded down to prevent damage when riding over high curbs. The wing is designed to be very long to avoid flooding the legs.\r\n\r\nAs for attaching it to the bike, I'm still thinking through the details and looking at how SKS does it. It's a tricky aspect of the design, but one that will make all the difference in its functionality.\r\n\r\nThe wing is designed to be disassembled for printing on a 200x200mm field printer. The maximum part size is 250mm long, and it should be printed diagonally on its side. The wing thickness is 1.2mm, which makes it flexible when printed with three SBS walls. I'm still getting used to working with SBS material, but a different material might yield even better results.\r\n\r\nTake a look at the old version in the real photo, where the fasteners were inserted at an angle into the gap between the wing and wheel. The space for fasteners is 2.7mm, and I recommend using a tap to secure them properly.\r\n\r\nHere's what you'll need for assembly:\r\n* 7 screws, each 10mm long\r\n* 1 nut, 3mm in size\r\n\r\nCheck out the latest version here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/58c828f8ddbbcd95fc14b90d/w/f4674b448ce67320da34e878/e/61d4fd33399028420ef9e811
