Modular Automata
myminifactory
Modular machines, comprised of three distinct mechanisms, deliver rotational, sliding and vertical motion. This project is straightforward to print but requires patience when assembling; remain calm and build it slowly. A 3D assembled model is included for reference. Steps: 1. Decide how many cubes are needed. 2. Design your own signs using a preferred 3D modeling software and add a cylinder at the base with a minimum height of 2cm and diameter of 3mm. 3. Select the mechanisms to be used, noting that the sliding mechanism requires a different top face for each cube. 4. Print all required parts. 5. If available, substitute 3mm wooden chopsticks or skewers for the axles; this simplifies assembly. As you assemble the cubes, apply small drops of glue to prevent accidental damage and disassembly.
