Modular action figure
thingiverse
This is my final masterpiece for 3D printing class. It's a fully adjustable action figure with snap-together joints and numerous dual extrusion components. The head, torso (not included in the final model because it broke), back, and feet are all printed on an Ultimaker 3 using black and silver filament, except for the head which is printed with silver and green filament for the eyes. To ensure proper alignment of the armor pieces, they must be printed with the snaps facing upwards; otherwise, the sockets will spread out excessively due to bed adhesion, causing the snaps to become brittle from support material. The arms are printed at a 0.06mm layer height on an Ultimaker 2 to prevent fusion of the pivot joints in the shoulders and wrists. Although the armor is still rough, I plan to redesign it for improved printer compatibility; however, achieving precise joints without fusing them proved challenging, resulting in a stiff doll rather than a poseable action figure.
