Looking for a desktop 3D scanner that meets my needs, I came across the CICLOP, designed by a talented Spanish creator. Another project caught my attention - FreeLss, a fantastic desktop scanner available on Kickstarter. The CICLOP relies on an Arduino Uno and requires a computer to process files using Open Source Horius software, whereas FreeLss uses a Raspberry Pi, eliminating the need for a separate computer. Both projects offer downloadable files and software on their dedicated websites. I gathered valuable information from Bill's blog, as well as the Atlas 3D users' Google group. Notably, ReprapUniverse is selling the 3D Raptor kit, which features the same electronics and principles used in the Atlas FreeLss. After weighing my options, I decided to design a structure that would allow me to test both scanners and accommodate potential upgrades to the electronics and camera. My goal was to keep it simple with a minimal number of parts that are easy to print and purchase online.
