Modified Y-Carriage for maximal distance, LM8UU
thingiverse
This revised Y Carriage Mounting Frame for slim LM8UU holders design by Jonas Kuehling consists of two tools, snap_on.stl and rod_end.stl. The concept involves printing diagonal connected LM8UU holders to keep smooth rods at a maximum distance, which can be applied to increase print bed size in future 3D printers. However, it may result in misaligned holder pairs; the additional mounting tools rectify this issue. Misaligned rods might cause clamp failure and premature bearing wear. A modified LM8UU holder with reinforced side walls is included, adaptable nuttraps are also provided. To use, adjust OpenSCAD file parameters and import 'lm8uu-holder-slim_v1-1.scad' from the ancestor version. Ensure print bed diagonal size compatibility; STL files are for 138mm rod distance (no specific reason). Snap_on part assists with holder alignment, while rod_end part checks parallelism. For improved precision, mount all bearings and rods before bottom plate fixation. New features include M3 thumb cap and T5 belt tensioner.
