modified wheel with flex tire for 1/10 rc
thingiverse
I wanted to fabricate the wheels and tires for a 4x4 Baja bug I'm currently building. For me, the original wheels were just a bit too wide. I reduced their width by about 25%, and I changed the exterior to better fit a tire I designed. The wheel prints with the hub support in place. So don't generate any supports. Once this is broken off, you will need to complete the shaft hole using a drill bit. The tire has a lot of small overhangs, but still prints well. The inside lip overhang caused a significant amount of stringing, but since the tire will be glued to the wheel, this isn't an issue. I printed the tire with 2 perimeters and 5% infill. They are fine, and will work, but I wish I would have done 3 or 4 perimeters and 15% infill. As is, they took about 12 hours to print, but for flexible filament, I run my printer slow at 15mm/s. Obviously with more perimeters and infill, the longer the print time, but stiffer the tire. I hope this will be useful for someone. Thanks for viewing.
