Upon receiving my Ultimaker, I discovered a faulty 50mm fan for the extruder cooling. To rectify this, I utilized a 40mm fan and required a duct for it. I modified Berend's Ultimaker Ducted Cooling Fan design, allowing the long screws on the extruder head to directly screw into the duct's roof without replacing them with longer screws. This simplified design is printable without a fan and can be assembled using hot glue. The attached STL files are suitable for extruders configured like mine (front left with cables at back left), but can be mirrored if needed. Mount the fan to the duct roof with two screws, then attach the printed pieces together using glue or wire ties. Next, unscrew three corners of your extruder and bolt the duct to these mounting holes. Ensure the air exit ports surround the nozzle and that the entire duct work is higher than the extruder nozzle for optimal cooling.
