modified Surface mounting 540 RC motor mount (no-longer fits lego technic)
thingiverse
I was on the hunt for a low-profile yet effective surface mounting bracket for my 540 motor. I really liked the design by Cwalz but had to modify the motor can center opening to accommodate the generic motor I was using. Additionally, I widened the mounting holes under the motor mounting upright to fit screws through them into the surface. This adjustment ensures the motor stays firmly in place without relying on the Technic holes, which isn't a concern since I deliberately moved the mounting out to allow for screws and didn't bother measuring against the Lego Technic specs. I wanted to share this remix with fellow enthusiasts who might be facing similar challenges when it comes to surface mounting their motors. The primary goal was to avoid lifting the motor too high off the surface, which can compromise stability and overall performance. Fortunately, this custom solution worked out beautifully for my foam kickboard-based RC recovery boat project. Now, whenever I encounter a situation where a boat refuses to make it back to shore due to dead batteries, I can simply deploy this quirky-looking contraption to push the boat back to safety with ease!
