After seeing the modified Prusa version that has the head cover extentions (as seen on 3dprint.nih.gov/). I was thinking there was an easier way to accomplish this. Just a few prototypes and it turned out great.

Print instructions

I laser cut this from 0.02" PETG, but would work with thinner materials. Thicker materials may have difficulty in bending so the design might need to be modified.

Once the cut is done:

1) Attached to headband using original hole pattern.
2) Bend PETG extended protion back and attach to end holes on each side to head band.
3) To ensure the bend is secured, insert the point extension into the slots.

Note that the Prusa headband design I'm usining is slightly modified for the hole punch locations, so if you use this DXF file, you may need to move or resize your holes depending on what Prusa Version you are using.
