Modified Pythagorean Tree IFS
thingiverse
My name is Katharine Downey, I'm a student at George Mason University taking Math 401: Mathematics Through 3D Printing. This object is my print from a project in the class where I coded the iterated function system, the Pythagorean Tree, with some modifications to boot. It features a 90°-60°-30° degree triangle, the right-hand square gets scaled down by sin(α), and the left-hand square gets scaled down by cos(α), where α is 60° sharp. In the original version of the Pythagorean Tree, the triangle is equilateral so the iterated system is symmetrical, but not in my modified version, which lacks that symmetry big time. My print shows the system after ten iterations, no less.
