Modified Jhead Compact Extruder for I3 Rework
thingiverse
I'm really passionate about the Jhead Compact Extruder for i3 Rework by Mak-a-face, but I did have some issues with it. The hobb on my extruder bolt was just too deep to work smoothly with the standard setup. So I decided to take the 1.75mm version and adapt it to support 3mm instead. I also adjusted the mounting position downward by 2mm since it cracked there due to a thin wall. Thankfully, you can still use the original blower. The cutout around the motor has been widened slightly because the screw on my gear was sticking out too much originally. This version utilizes the same guide as the original Mak-a-face thing with the 1.75 setting. Edit: On October 27th, I revised the files. I previously had the incorrect file uploaded which added an extra 3mm to its height. The updated ones add only 2mm more than needed. I also adjusted the mount for the shroud so that all the original parts can still work properly together. Please note that you'll still need to use the 1.75 guide in this version of Mak-a-face's extruder mod, however. To suit this new configuration I modified my own fan shroud accordingly. Another edit on October 28th revealed even more changes - this time the fan shroud received some support with a relief added for screws. Then another modification took place a couple days later: I optimized the fan shroud so that it cools a larger portion of the J-Head itself, considering its size. It stands about ~65mm tall, and since most of it (50mm) consists of PEEK, these adjustments can come in handy when handling hot parts.
