Modified Extruder for Zortrax M200
thingiverse
This is a redesign of a Zortrax M200 extruder. The benefit is an adjustable compression rate of the filament between bearing & gear, so the range of printable material is now way bigger. The compressionrange is between 0.9 - 1.6mm with a nonius resolution of 0.1mm. At the original extruder, the compressionrate is about 1.55mm. To prevent that filament is wrapping around the gear, the gap between housing and gear is reduced. With this extruder, it is possible to print nearly every kind of flexible filament. I tried Pebax, TPU, expandable TPU (foam) and different kinds of TPE like Primalloy or Z-Flex. They all worked fine. Printing profiles are added just to get a „feeling“ for the compression rates of the different materials. Also, the heatsink was made bigger and with additional fan. Due to saving Material, the weight stays the same. Most of the parts have to be milled. The nonius scale is printed with SLA but could also be milled and engraved. I didn’t install the additional fan yet and also not the thermal insulation around the hotend. Since I am not very patient, I use a small bunsen burner to increase the heating up process. ;-) Technical drawings with tolerances are not included. Just make sure, the - Linear bearings are having low backlash and the distance is precise - The slide with the ball bearing has low backlash - The holes, where the filament runs through have an optimal surface quality and the holes are not shifted
