Modified blade holder for Hooptey's VAWT (vertical axis wind turbine)
thingiverse
The blade holders appeared to be excessively bulky, so I decided to modify them to reduce material usage and save printing time. By opening up the center of each holder, I was able to thin it out significantly, tapering it towards the tip for a more streamlined design. With an infill density of 15% and shell settings at 0.8 mm, coupled with top/bottom layer thicknesses of 1.2 mm, my estimated weight dropped from 20 grams to just 9 grams, while also cutting the print time in half. Interestingly, I found that both the original design and the modified version required a 4% scaling adjustment to ensure they fit perfectly within my Walmart vertical blinds.
