Modified base for Universal Mini Extruder
thingiverse
This modified Mendel base plate is based on Thingiverse's design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7975). It features a hexagonal recess for a drilled M8 bolt, which serves as the hot end mount. When printing this part, consider ABS shrinkage and use extra shells with 35% fill. Post-printing, holes may need reaming. To assemble, drill a 2mm hole through an M8 bolt's center and countersink its head hole for smooth filament passage. Place the bolt so that the head fits the part's recess, and the thread passes through the hole. This creates a sturdy hot end mount via an M8 threaded PEek rod/block. Alternatively, place an M8 nut in the recess and tape the end of an 8mm PEek bar to fit; PTFE tape ensures a tighter fit here (untested method).
