Modified AT Switch Design

Modified AT Switch Design

This is a remix of the AT Switch by atmakers. The design has focused on a thicker center post that supports the micro-switch as well as a sleeve built into the button to direct it downward, eliminating tip-over and catching under the collar's edge. A hole in the base allows for the insertion of a threaded insert. The headphone jack mount was removed due to complications with threading. As seen in atmakers' video, they simply stuck the cord through the hole instead. I believe a jack is essential but this design doesn't lend itself to one. Multiple sleeve lengths and diameters were tried to ensure vertical movement with minimal sway, resulting in stability but also the characteristic washboard sound of 3D printed parts. This may be mitigated by sanding the surfaces. Experimentation with different filament colors could have produced a visually appealing "bee" design. Locating a suitable spring for the switch proved challenging due to its specific dimensions: 1 inch in length and 0.5 inch outside diameter. McMaster-Carr had only two options that met these requirements, one of which was difficult to depress. I chose this spring: Zinc-Plated Music-Wire Closed & Flat End 1" Long 0.418" ID https://www.mcmaster.com/#9657K312 The threaded insert can be ordered from McMaster-Carr via this URL: Heat-Set Inserts for Plastics 1/4"-20 Thread Size 0.300" Installed Length https://www.mcmaster.com/#93365a160/=1958fir For installing the insert, I followed kurtschaefer's recommendation and printed his Soldering Iron Drill Press Adapter (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1637284) along with purchasing a recommended soldering iron for heating the insert. tmorris9's Camera to GoPro mount design can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:991531
