Modified 3D Scanner/Turntable Rig (work-in-progress)
thingiverse
Recently, the RC car motor in my turntable project was replaced with a full rotation servo (dated 22/06/2014), eliminating the need for an internal battery. This led to a smaller and more compact casing. After numerous events where guests reported dizziness from standing on the original turntable, I decided to modify it so that the 3D scanner revolves around the object or person instead. The updated design includes an adjustable extension arm for the camera dolly and a remotely controlled vertical track for the 3D scanner, which is still a work in progress due to the overly fast spinning caused by the current motor and RC receiver. To visualize my goal, check out these videos: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=613308525406751 and https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=634132603324343. I still need to work on perfecting the 3D scanner track for high-quality results.
