Custom Design Unveiled: A Smaller, More Modern Opossum Kit I embarked on a mission to redesign the original opossum kit, which I had grown fond of but found lacked in print quality. The perfect opportunity arose when I stumbled upon LED strips from Costco, yearning for a creative outlet and a chance to modernize my design while keeping it simple. This iteration boasts smaller dimensions, making it easier to handle and less daunting to assemble. Modularity was key in the redesign, allowing each section and foot to be easily assembled or replaced as needed. I've intentionally left room for experimentation with other kits similar to mine, but further research is required to confirm compatibility. A subtle trade-off was made by loosening the connections slightly; however, this compromise has been mitigated through the use of a slurry that fills gaps and ensures a seamless finish after sanding. To add an extra layer of depth, I chose to print with glow-in-the-dark ABS. The design is still in progress, but so far, each piece prints and fits together seamlessly. With four sections left to complete, I'm hoping to have the entire build finished by the weekend. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 15% Notes: Each section prints in approximately three hours, while each foot takes around four and a half hours to complete. With 12 sections, two feet, and six feet of LED strips, this kit is ready for assembly. I've opted for a 0.3 resolution to ensure speedy printing, as I won't be around to monitor the process if it's too time-consuming.
