The Moate of Ardscull draws in tourists from around Co. Kildare, situated just outside Athy town. Initially an Anglo Norman settlement site, the Moate underwent significant changes in the 1800s with tree planting transforming its landscape. Over the years, numerous trees have been carved with names and messages left by visitors. Atop the moat's upper ring to the northeast lies a Sheela-na-Gig carving, though the exact date of this carving remains unclear, it is likely from the 20th or 21st century.
