Modelling Clay Carving Set
thingiverse
I just finished this! I had a bunch of schoolwork that was overdue, which explains the delay. Here's something I made for a school project: a custom carving set. I wanted to try my hand at clay sculpting, but instead of buying a whole new set, I designed and printed one using 3D modeling software. If you're curious about the technical side of things, I've included the Rhino source file. To print this out, here are some settings that work well for me: * Use no rafts or supports to keep it clean. * Infill should be set at 15% for a decent balance between strength and speed. * A note: if you want optimal results, aim for 3-4 shells per piece. My floor and roof thickness is 1mm, but you can get away with 0.6mm too. Once it's out of the printer, I'd recommend cutting or sanding off some rough edges. There's about 0.25mm clearance on the caps, which should provide a snug fit – but if it gets stuck or won't budge, just shave down that bit where they meet and you'll be good to go. By the way, if this is for kids, make sure to sand those tool edges smooth to avoid any mishaps like I had. It's an easy mistake to prevent!
