Model Thumper
thingiverse
The Model Thumper is designed to liberate your models from the printer's build surface. Often, one or two taps is all that's needed to gently coax the model free. I use a small brass hammer that came with some gunsmith tools. To operate it effectively, place Thumper on the build surface with the flat end pressed against the model. Note that the flat end slopes back slightly and there's a small wedge at the base. Take a small hammer and give the back of the block a few gentle taps. The oval pad at the back is designed to prevent accidental damage to the build surface. When the little bottom wedge starts to wear down, print a new Thumper. You are responsible for determining how much force to use when freeing the model. Update: I added a version of the model with Thumper's name on it (the file with capital letters in the filename).
