Model Rocket Transition
thingiverse
Need a one-of-a-kind transition section that's not available on the market? Want a solid model of a rocket transition for 3D printing, but only have Balsa wood at your disposal? This customizer will create a precise model of the model rocket transition, allowing you to customize the shoulder diameters and transition length. Print Settings: Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 Resolution: ABS 0.4 nozzle, .200 mm layers Infill: 0% Notes: Printing this part can be very challenging, requiring Simplify3D to produce effective results. The issue lies in the multiple perimeters needed where the body tubes meet the transition, ensuring a single-piece component. You can try printing the entire transition with sufficient perimeters to support the shoulders, but this results in an excessively heavy part. I successfully print these using six different processes, increasing perimeters where necessary and keeping most of the transition light with two layers. The section tool is used to examine how the layers stack at the tube ends. For added resilience, I print them in ABS. Acetone vapor smoothing can be applied for a better surface finish and improved layer bonding.
