You're looking for a custom solution that doesn't exist on the market? Maybe you need a hollow transition for a payload or electronics bay, but all you can find is Balsa wood. This customizer will create a solid model of the rocket's transition section for 3D printing. You can set the shoulder diameters and adjust the transition length to your liking. The print settings are optimized for the Wanhao Duplicator i3 printer. Here's what you need to know: Resolution: ABS, 0.4 nozzle diameter, .200 mm layers Infill: 0% This model is quite challenging to print and requires Simplify3D software to get it right. The issue is that the transition section needs multiple perimeters where the body tubes meet to ensure a one-piece part. You can try printing the entire transition with extra perimeters for support, but this will result in an excessively heavy part. To overcome this challenge, I use six different print processes to increase perimeters where needed and keep most of the transition light by using two layers only. The section tool helps me examine how the layers stack up at the tube ends. I recommend printing with ABS for added resilience. To achieve a smooth surface and ensure good layer bonding, you can try acetone vapor smoothing.
