Model Rocket R1/v27
thingiverse
Here is my take on a model rocket. This 3 piece design is simple and requires only the engine (18mmx70mm) and means of recovery. I recommend a streamer but a parachute will also work. The fin can provides its own retainer and the main tube turn locks in to secure the motor and the pieces together. The nose cone is friction fit and provides an eyelet for connecting it to the main tube to the inner lug.Data provided by Open rocket. In the sims I specified ASA as material (lightest material I can print) and C6-5 Estes motors. Open rocket sims show and unfinished rocket should climb to heights of around 1200ft-1300ft while a smooth painted rocket should get near 1500ft.Updated January 26, 2024I made some improvements to the original 3 parts. These new parts are labeled V27. Improvements are as follows. (See included v27 images from OpenRocket for simulation data)-Nose cone is increased in length to allow more mass to be added via infill.-Noes cone has larger tie point for ease of threading as well as fitting over inner lug-Main tube has larger guide lug as well as moved inner lug to the top.-Fin can has slightly wider fins and increased the cant from 1 degree to 2 degrees.Note that most of these parts will be inter changeable with the exception of the original nose cone may not fit on the v27 main tube due to the new location of the inner tie lug.
