Model Rocket

Simple model rocket designed for my son's Estes models that won't disappear like other designs. Frustrated with lost prints and mediocre motor retention methods, I created this. It has a convenient mounting system for the motor and ample space for parachute deployment and wadding. Functions perfectly with Class C or D model rocket engines from Estes by printing the correct type of motor and block parts. Update to come after launching this rocket. Meanwhile, working on a military-inspired delivery system... Assembly guide for simple high-flying projectile: Built my initial version using the fewest possible parts to create a sleek 18-inch model that's stable in flight. You can add midsections to increase its height, but beyond a certain point, I fear it may lose balance. Essential assembly includes: One set of each required part, with an exception: print a Class C or D motor block and matching tie-down inserts. For fins, I used four. Adding sections requires one extra insert or payload section - as tall as you can imagine, I suppose! This expansion section features a rod guide, but its function is similar to the main payload area, despite confusing nomenclature. Step-by-step instructions for assembly: Inspect each part and assemble in dry fashion. Depending on your 3D printer's accuracy, you may need some filing or sanding to prepare parts. Insert engine into Motor Block C/D and push it into Rocket Base until perfectly centered. Glue the block with a drop of liquid Acrylic adhesive delivered by needle, as this method prevents air bubbles. Next step: insert fins into guides on the rocket base and glue in place using same type of adhesive as mentioned above. Now add a tie-down piece to top rocket section. After attaching payload extension, tie it down securely using shock cord that is no less than 300mm in length (and tied firmly). Complete the final steps by connecting shock cord end to nose cone attach point. Don't forget to secure parachute here, then wrap it with tie-down piece secured either via a small screw or both screws and glue. Carefully pack parachute deployment unit (wadding included) and tie off securely so your high flyer takes the flight as designed
