Model Rocket Display Bases
pinshape
In my vast collection of model rockets, I have several that can't stand on their own three/four fins due to protrusions extending below said fins. For some, I've created wall mounts out of PVC pipe and fittings to give the illusion of flying, which works great for those, but others - the smaller models - don't lend themselves well to that method. For those, I've designed these little display stands. As time allows, I'll add more designs as well as photos of the completed stands. Print Settings Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 20% Notes: For Estes A sized engine models (including the 1/4 and 1/2 A sizes) scale base2 up 120% for proper fit. How I Designed These Be kind with your comments. My computer had enough power to handle this model in FreeCAD - my go-to design program that I'm well familiar with - so I decided to try it out. I designed the first one - base1 - in Blender; created a mesh from it; exported that; and ran it through NetFabb. I wanted to try my hand at creating valleys in the exhaust flame, so I loaded that STL into FreeCAD and played around with it a bit there. I know it's not perfect, but I'm learning and I think it's pretty good for my maiden attempt using Blender.
