Model Railroad, Water Tank
thingiverse
This OpenSCAD-designed railroad water tower model, inspired by 1850s to 1950s steam locomotive supplies, features adjustable scaling for O27, S, HO, and N gauge trains. Scale the .stl files accordingly: O27 at 105%-110%, S at 100%, HO at 65%-70%, N at 40%-50%, and Z at 40%-45%. The unscaled dimensions are 260mm height, 93mm waterspout clearance, and 85mm tank OD. Printed in three sizes on a Makerbot Replicator2 vertically, with separate builds for legs, tank, roof, water spout, and ladder; print time takes low resolution, 2 shells, 0.30mm layer height, and 230°C at 8% infill. A few cross-beam adjustments are needed on the legs, and supports for the roof aren't required. It prints best on its own with good filament, level build plate, clean platform, and a pre-fed spool. Additional parts need filament, wire, marker, and glue or epoxy for assembly. The model is free software under GNU General Public License v3.0 and comes with no warranties.
