Model of an intersection for the blind
pinshape
This model was designed to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating streets and intersections by providing tactile feedback about their surroundings. They can feel around the intersection, becoming aware of obstacles such as open doors, park benches, stop signs, curbs, medians, two stop lights, guardrails, open windows, and billboards that exist at an intersection or on a road. The model also enables them to determine the location of crosswalk lines relative to the road and identify the position of the crosswalk button. Furthermore, it allows users to understand which direction traffic is flowing by recognizing the arrow in the road.
