The GAZ-51 - a Soviet truck that could carry an impressive 2.5 tons, marking it as the largest cargo model of the 1950s and 1970s era.\n\nThe first models bearing the GAZ-51 designation came into being even before World War II broke out, mass production kicked off in 1946. The updated version known as the GAZ-51A rolled off assembly lines in 1955, continuing production until 1975. In total, an astonishing number of all variations, totaling 3,481,033 units, hit the roads.\n\nSoviet documentation confirms that not only were these trucks manufactured in Russia's factories but also under license by other countries, including Poland at FSC's facility (Lublin) as Lublin-51 and in North Korea's Tokcheon where they bore the Synri-58 label; even in China at Nanjing, albeit with some minor modifications to create the Yujin NJ130, known more commonly as Yuejin NJ130.
