We modified meez's RC car tire for our school project. My child helped us make this creation a reality. We took apart the tire, cutting it into two pieces and then hollowed it out to fit a standard skate board ball bearing perfectly - with some hammering it slides right in. Loctite 401 is perfect glue for any PLA printed parts. Be quick though because once applied, these two things will never separate again. For our axles we used wooden sticks from an art supply store that are precisely 5/16" in diameter. We added my daughter's initials to the outside of one piece, but I've left the design here as a blank slate so you can customize it as desired. My child and I printed this project on a Voltivo ExcelFil PLA Ocean Blue with our Airwolf 3D AXIOM. Here are the details we used: * Printer: + Brand: Airwolf 3D Printer Model: AW3D V5 Print Settings Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 25% These settings allowed us to complete this simple print at 50mm/sec with a bit of extra effort thanks to our aggressive retraction - we're using a Bowden extruder so things move quick! Sliced everything with Simplify3D, laid down three bottom solid layers and four top ones. There are also two outlines just for kicks. Printing it wasn't long or laborious even though we set the speed to only 50mm/sec. Assemble the Pieces Together First put a ball bearing in one of the pieces, being sure to hit it with a hammer carefully until snug inside its hole and then glues the parts together using Loctite 401 - once on this won't budge no matter what happens later on! This creation is an inspired redesign. My child, I used TinkerCAD to come up with our take on the original. For starters I took out most of a hollow interior circle with another larger cylinder that leaves room for those little metal balls you might remember. We took it from there by making some fun letters (which aren't visible right now). The end product turned out quite impressive despite simplicity!
