Model Buoy
thingiverse
This is a highly detailed model buoy designed specifically for use with radio-controlled (RC) model boats. Green or red ABS filament is used to create the buoy's structure, eliminating the need for any additional painting. A clear lens made from transparent ABS adds a touch of realism to the model. Number stickers are carefully applied and sealed with a clear coat to protect them from damage. The light stand is securely attached to the superstructure using CA glue, while the body is connected to the bottom bell and sealed with silicone caulk for added durability. To ensure stability, a lead fishing weight ranging from 2-4 oz is attached to the anchor extension via a wire, typically made of stainless steel fishing leader wire. This adds a level of realism to the buoy's design. The lamp lens is crafted using transparent filament, allowing two stacked 5-mm LEDs to be placed underneath for added visibility. The wires are carefully routed through a conduit built into one of the support structures of the superstructure. A printed circuit board is used to create a flashing effect by combining transistors, capacitors, and resistors in a clever design. This attention to detail brings the model buoy to life, making it an impressive addition to any RC model boat collection.
