Model 82 - Flying Gecko Flying Pose 2

sketchfab

This is a high-resolution 3D mesh of a live flying gecko (Ptychozoon kuhli) shown in mid-glide. The lizard was photo-captured with the Beastcam MACRO in the Irschick lab at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where it weighed just 4.6 grams. Johnson Martin, skilled CGI artist, retopologized and rebuilt the gecko from images taken with Canon G16 cameras. Working together with Cameron Siler from the University of Oklahoma and Tony Gamble from Marquette University, we created this model to help them test gliding and predation models in geckos. This project was made possible by NSF grant 1657662. High-resolution downloads are freely available for creative projects and non-profit use.
