XYZPrinting Filament Temperature Adjustment for Printing Nylon with Stock Firmware I've finally got the settings dialed in, and I'm excited to share them with you. Check out the included picture of a buckle I printed using Gizmo Dork's nylon filament - it looks great! You can find more details on this project on Thingiverse. To print with ABS cartridge settings, I recommend setting the pot to 190 ohms for Gizmo Dork's nylon filament. This will give you a temperature range around 290-300C, which is necessary for this type of filament to adhere properly to lower layers. Be aware that some users have reported issues with this filament at normal nylon settings. To get started, adjust the pot to mid-range for normal nylon, and then work your way back and forth until you achieve the best prints. Keep in mind that there may be some stringing, but it's not severe enough to require cleaning up. I'm not sure if this is a common issue with nylon or just this specific brand. For testing, I recommend using an XYZWare demo 3D printer with thick walls, as this filament doesn't handle thin vertical walls well. You can use the bypass switch in XYZWare to get the exact temperature reading. If you're using a different printer model, make sure it has no control over the print head temperature. Note that I've encountered issues with my own printer's firmware and have not been able to adjust the temperature settings through the software. To modify your printer for optimal nylon printing, follow these steps: 1. Replace the 500 ohm pot with a 560 ohm resistor (or anything close) in parallel. 2. Add a single pole single throw toggle switch, such as a small radio shack type bypass switch. 3. Connect the bypass switch to the print head temperature control. This modification will give you more accurate adjustments and better results when printing with nylon filament.
