Mobius Gimbal and Dome Retractable!
thingiverse
This gimbal has a retractable main frame, with a dome that fits onto the rotation ring via snap-on functionality, allowing for easy access to the Mobius for starting and stopping recording, power cycling, switching modes, etc. When using the retractable design, the pan servo is mounted on a vibration isolation bracket, reducing transferred vibrations from the aircraft. The mainframe can lower the dome 45mm below the mounting surface or raise it above for retractable operations. This gimbal operates in BETA form and will require some DIY adjustments. It has designed bolt holes for 3mm bolts and nuts with nylon washers separating moving parts. This system requires 3 HS85 servos, vibration dampening balls, and necessary hardware, as listed below. Required materials include three 3mm bolts, eight 18mm washers, two 14mm bolts, HS85 or equivalent servos, and rubber/silicone vibration dampeners. Files needed for printing are the Isolater arms, Dome, Main Frame, Isolation frame (can be printed separately), Mobius Cradle, and Rotation Ring. Assembly is relatively straightforward; however, assistance can be provided if necessary. To achieve centering on the pan servo, it was specifically designed to utilize an HS-85, as this requires precise positioning. The tilt servo intended for gluing underneath the Mobius cradle and the retract servo has been designed for flexibility with use of a different servo type.
