There are plenty of very affordable and extremely effective T12-Soldering-Kits available on eBay or Chinese online shops. I built this compact case to take with me, powered by either a LiPo battery or an old laptop power adapter. You can also use it with a car charger. It operates smoothly between 10 and 24 volts. For instance, it's perfect for RC hobbies, allowing you to make repairs right on the field. The "Window" file is just for demonstration purposes; create your own window using transparent plastic.
