I needed a portable soldering iron that could withstand the demands of the field, so I opted for a battery-powered model with controlled temperature and a price tag under 20USD. The STC T12 DIY kit seemed like a solid choice to get the job done. After conducting some research, I realized that finding a suitable case was more challenging than anticipated. Undeterred, I decided to create my own, focusing on ergonomics to ensure it felt comfortable in hand. To power the iron, I used an XT60 connector, but you can choose from other types of connectors as long as they fit snugly into the socket and are secured with hot glue for a secure hold.
