Mobile Phone Stand

The purpose of the Mobile Phone Stand was to give student’s learning digitally from home, a simple yet functional way for them to enjoy meetings through their phone with a nice consistent angle for better viewing pleasure on both ends. Although, it’s primary use is for the desk-space, it’s collapsible design encourages it to be taken to other safe environments such as your dining table, backyard, etc. The biggest challenge that I faced when designing this stand was finding the correct sizing (measurements) to not only fit a phone, but make it mobile which resulted in constant corrections when converting from mm to inches (since I used Fusion 360), calculating spacing + angle of the stand, etc. Some changes I’d make when redesigning this stand, would be to make some ridges on the bottom piece so that students could have access to at least 3 different angles to set the stand at instead of being limited to only one. 3D printing this design would create room for even more changes based possibly on the integrity of the stand (Do I need to make it stronger?) or even to simplify it a bit more for easier use.
