Everybody is witnessing the widespread popularity of tablet PCs like iPads. These devices allow users to browse the internet on their couches, read e-books, and relax while playing games. Noticeably, there are apps that enable people to sketch on these tablets, and even specialized hardware for drawing has been developed. As a result of limited processing power, RAM, and size, these devices remain (albeit entertaining) toys, never intended for professional use. My design combines the features of a digital drawing board like Wacom's Cintiq 21ux with those of a high-end notebook. With its docking station, including a keyboard and mouse, it can be used as a desktop replacement or secondary monitor for desktops. Additionally, when connected, the hardware in the tablet extends the power of the primary system (4 cores, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA CUDA). As a portable device, it can be utilized anywhere. If someone prefers working on their photoshoot from the couch or creating concept art in their preferred cafe while discussing new ideas with customers via sketches, this tablet fits their needs perfectly. Some features I would like to see in my design include: - Screen size: 17"-21" - Min. 4-core processor - Min. 8 GB RAM - Min. 2 GB VRAM - SSDs (Solid-State Drives) - Wireless HDMI connection - High-resolution pressure-sensitive stylus or airbrushing function - High-resolution multitouch screen; plug-ins should be created for widely used graphics software such as Corel Painter, Z-Brush, Mudbox, the Adobe Creative Suite.
