Hello, I'm excited to share my latest DIY project with you. I own an old Panasonic LX3 camera that still takes great photos, but its age forced me to replace the battery with a non-original part. During my first trip after the swap, I noticed that the new battery didn't last nearly as long as the original one. This got me thinking about how I could prevent running out of power on future treks. That's when it hit me - carrying a portable charger powered by a power bank would be the perfect solution. And so, this foldable charger was born! Its compact design makes it easy to stash in my small camera bag without taking up too much space. I'm also including the FreeCad project files for anyone who wants to build one themselves. The CGA-S005 battery is compatible with many Panasonic camera models, making this charger a versatile accessory for any photographer. Here's what you'll need to get started: * A TP4056 based charging module (available on eBay or AliExpress) * 2 long pinheads with 100 mils raster spacing as battery contacts * A small auxiliary PCB to mount the pinheads, milled and drilled using a small grinder * 2 x 5mm long M2.5 screws with cone heads for attaching the PCB to the body * 2 x 10 mm long M2.5 screws with cone heads as pivots (hinges) * 2 x M2.5 nuts When printing the charger body, be sure to use a transparent filament that allows red and green light to pass through - this will ensure your LED indicators work properly. I recommend a layer thickness of 0.2mm with no support material needed. To fit the TP4056 module, you'll need to modify it slightly around the micro USB connector to accommodate the charger enclosure. With these simple parts and a bit of DIY know-how, you can have this charger up and running in no time! Enjoy!
