Mobile / Baby Toy "Night Sky"
prusaprinters
A scientifically incorrect, multicolor-friendly space-themed mobile.I'm including the openscad file, so feel free to steal/modify/mix&match whatever you want. Most of the pieces require glueing, because I wanted to allow for manual color changes. There are also options for alternative rods (hearts and circles). If you assemble as shown and print everything using default Prusaslicer settings (PLA) for Prusa printers, it should balance well. However this is just a suggestion, of course there are infinite possibilities. The rods have several holes around the center allowing to attach the strings in different places to fine-tune the balancing. I advise to start the balancing process in the bottom and work towards the top. The small star is meant to be used as a retainer for a loop at the very top.A note on printing the rods: On Prusa Mk2.5/3/4 you'll have to disable the skirt, otherwise they'll not fit on the build plate. I don't own a Mini, but playing around in Prusaslicer it seems you can print the long rods at almost original size: one at a time, rotate 45°, skirt off and scale to 99%.For convenience I grouped multi-part pieces together in the stl files. If you want to use more colors, you can split them up again in Prusaslicer and print them separately. The rocket & exhaust plume are designed to be printed with no infill to save weight. Depending on which hole position is used to connect the thread, the rocket will “fly” upwards, downwards or horizontally. Most decorations have a channel in the center. This allows stringing more pieces together, or hold them in place with knots. I chose to just glue the threads in.We have a cheap wind-up motor for this (playing a famous german moon-themed lullaby), and it creates very fascinating “constellations”. Our baby absolutely loves it.
