Moai Mold for casting
thingiverse
This is a Test for Casting Concrete, but I made some mistakes along the way. It took me more than 24 hours to get the concrete dry enough. To my dismay, I ended up breaking the mold and cracking the surface of the nose. What's worse, I didn't use the easy-release method that takes all the pressure off when removing the cast from its mold. I don't know what they call it in English, but trust me, it's a game-changer for creating replicas like this. As you can probably tell by now, the concrete statue turned out to be quite expensive. To say the least, I'm eager to explore cheaper alternatives, and my search has led me to consider working with silicone instead of traditional casting methods. It looks easier to work with and offers a better overall result at an unbeatable price. My enthusiasm for trying it is simply palpable! If you're interested in seeing how this process works from start to finish, I've got you covered. Four downloadable files are available below: two feature original designs, while the other two include the supports that will make the mold come out clean and easy to remove. Enjoy!
