MMU2S Filament Spindle Washers
prusaprinters

I got tired of the axles (metal rods) falling out of the MMU2S filament spindles, so I printed these washers to hold them in place. They are intended to be printed with a semi-flexible filament.

I included the very simple OpenSCAD model file in case you need to tweak settings for your filament.

Yes, there's probably a rubber grommet out there that would work perfectly well for this, but if you already have some flexible filament on hand this will save you a trip to the hardware store.

Print instructions

Print this with a semi-flexible filament such as Flexfill 98A. (Place blue painters tape (~0.12 mm thick, FYI) on the bed to help with removal. I suggest printing out one or two at a time until you get your flexible filament setup printing well, then crank out the rest of them. At the risk of stating the obvious, you'll need to print 10 washers total to upgrade all five filament spindles.

They are slightly undersized so they will stay in place on the spindle axles. Gently push them on the metal rods then snug them up inside the recess on either side of the spindle.
