MMU2 - Filament quick disconnect adapter
prusaprinters

Update: This part gets a fair amount of attention. It does what it does not too badly. But honestly I don't use it on the MMU2 anymore because my friend vertigo235 has a much better solution than mine (uses different pneumatic fittings -- PC4-M10 passthrough) These allow the filament to slide with much less friction, which results in fewer print failures. Most of you should use his design instead. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3233579

Getting the MMU2 in and out of an enclosure mounted printer is a challenge due to the way the PTFE entering the unit is clamped in place. This 5X PTFE clamp to pneumatic push fit adapter allows for an unmodified MMU to be more easily disconnected from filament feed tubes.

Parts required:

6pc M3 X 8mm machine screws

6pc M3 hex nuts

5pc Short pieces of PTFE with both ends reamed / chamfered into a "funnel" shape

5pc M4 or M5 thread pneumatic push fit connectors.

Thread the push fit connectors into the plastic first (may need an M8 or M10 wrench to get them tight). Push all 5 PTFE tubes in place until they butt against the connectors. Attach the cover with M3 hex nuts and M3 X 8mm machine screws.

Print Settings

Printer:

Original Prusa MK2.5

Supports:

No

Notes:

I recommend printing these parts without support even though the wells for the nuts and machine screws will need a little tidying up afterward.

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
